About Me

My name is Bea, and I am studying art education at UVM with a minor in Spanish. I grew up around the world, in Washington DC, Ecuador, Germany, Pennsylvania, and Colombia. I also grew up with art all around me. My mother is an artist and I spent my childhood drawing, painting, printmaking, sewing, and cooking—all skills and activities I still love today. I go through the world observing. I want to see as much as possible and itch to document it. I love to keep a small notebook (the tinier the better), and draw pictures of everything that catches my eye. I am particularly drawn to beautiful foods, typefaces, patterns, and interesting hardware (think screws, hinges, pulleys, etc). I love to see people solve problems and create in clever ways I couldn’t have imagined. I also love crosswords and other puzzles. This includes learning new languages, drawing bikes, Boggle, and untangling string. These loves and interests bring me back to art, and to education. Working with young kids has always been a favorite part of my life, and one of many times my observation and love of silly creativity is a strength.
